Rewards From Him

Psalm 127: 3
Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him.

Psalms 139: 13-16
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

One Year Portraits

Matt and I weren't impressed with the six month pictures of the twins that we had taken in a studio, so we decided to take our own one year pictures in a local park. Plus, we were too cheap to pay all of that money again! I loaded the kids up, and we met at the park. Jack was all boy, and found sticks, rocks, and mud. Sophie, being the little princess that she is, really wanted one of us to hold her, so she would only sit or stand for a few minutes at a time. These were the ones that Matt and I really liked. You can make any of the pictures bigger by clicking on them. So here they are, the pictures of our one (OK, almost one) year olds.

A Walk with Fall Leaves

I am so happy that the twins love fall as much as I do! Here are a few snapshots of our walk!

Birthday Photo Shoot

Now that everyone has received their birthday invites, I can share some of the pictures that didn't make it onto the card. Matt and I dressed the kids up, and took tons of pictures as usual. We used the one corner in our house that doesn't have windows in the way, but Sophie kept crawling away, so that didn't last long. Next we used the "double camp chair" with blankets draped on top of it, but Sophie fell off onto her head. I could see it happening, but I was behind the camera lense, and couldn't do anything to stop it. Poor baby. After that she had a bruise, and we cleaned up shop because comforting her was more important! Matt and I can be a little picture crazy, so we endend up with a ton of pictures to choose from. I'd say that we did a pretty good job, as it is extremely hard to get two one year olds to sit still for even a minute. Here are a few of the good and the bad.

The invite pictures.

Jack looking at her bow so that he rip it off.

I love that I have a daughter so I can dress her up in pretty dresses and bows!

Holding hands. Sophie is getting dangerously close to the edge!

Post fall with their loveys.

One Year Ago

More nostalgia...if you can consider a year ago "nostalgic!" This was me last year. Yeah I know, I was HUGE. I don't know how I managed to get around with that huge belly! This was just about the only outfit that fit me. It is hard to believe now that I ever had TWO babies inside of me. When I got the epidural in the hospital I cried. I knew I would never feel them move inside of me again. I do miss that sometimes even now, although I love seeing them and holding them now!

Reminiscing

With a little over two weeks until the twins' first birthday, I have been remininscing. So strange that the day they were born was almost a year ago. I really do remember it very clearly. Well most of it. There were a few hazy, drug enduced times that I kind of forget. We recently took some of the pictures off of our old camera, and I found this one of Matt and the twins. He is in his hospital gown, and I remember how excited he was to put it on. How giddy he was to meet the two little ones that we had waited a long time to see. When I downloaded the pictures, I asked him what he was thinking as he looked into thier tiny, little eyes. He told me simply, "that he wasn't thinking." Neither was I.

Jack Walking

Jack has not slowed down one bit since we told you he started walking. He is an "expert" walker now, and walks all day, never getting down to crawl anymore. We had a playdate with two twenty month old boys on Monday, and Jack chased them all over the house! Here he is over the weekend chasing a car around the room.

Sophie's Hippo Walking

A few days ago, we caught Sophie in a "risk-taking" mood. She wanted to walk behind the hippo, and she wanted to do it again, and again. Here is some footage of one of her passes. I think is she wasn't so scared, she would be walking around a whole lot more!

The Anderson Family

You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them. ~Desmond Tutu

Jack @ 11 Months

Jack is still the monkey we know and love. His middle name is still trouble. Except now he can walk all over the place. It is so strange and exciting to see my little guy walk fluidly across the room like he has always been able to do it. Just to give you an example of how much trouble he is, he broke our gate apart the other day when I was going to the bathroom. Thank God he didn't leave. I about had a heart attack when I saw what he did! Besides the new skills in mobility, he is very interested in tinkering with things to see how they work. He puts things in, only to take them back out. He pulls the drawers on our toy cabinets in and out. He opens the "trunk" on one of our little cars, sticks something in it, and closes it. He is so busy ALL day long! Jack's favorite foods are plain pasta and watermelon, although he really does like everything, even zucchini. He seems to be getting bigger all of the time! Here a few pictures from this weekend. The first one was taken at a park while we had a picnic with my family. The second one is Mr. Trouble, himself, in action!

Sophie @ 11 Months

Sophie is taking more and more risks these days. She has been cruising more, and pulling up occasionally. She also has come out of her shell, and is becoming more social. This month she learned how to make "fish-lips" after her Aunt Laurie showed her how. She says "dada" in reference to Matt, and she says "Hi" when waving at someone. The other day I told her to say, "Hi Jack," and it came out sounding like "Hi Dack." I wonder if that will be her nickname for him? Her favorite food is still watermelon, as well as grilled cheese and mac and cheese. Her recovery is going really well, and she seems to be healed. She has two scars that I think bother me more than her. I think I am going to put some Mederma on them to see if it will soften them up a little. I am very thankful to have the surgery behind us, and thank that God took care of her! These pictures are also from this weekend at the park.
